GADFLY – Let There Be More Light (Pink Floyd cover) All of the bands on this week’s episode are femme-fronted (to the best of my knowledge). There’s a classic track by The Dishrags to start things off, some twee, and a heavy Pink Floyd cover for good measure. The soundtrack to countless ’90s stair master workouts and still a great motivator, mostly due to the end synth bit and all the “Aaaaa oo wahs.This week we are mostly sticking to bands from the west coast, featuring sounds from Alarum Records and Kingfisher Bluez, among others. This one works equally well for nerds actually too, especially post-swirly. It’s inspiring in that “I get knocked down” way. With Montell’s supreme ’90s funkiness and lyrics like “The hood’s been good to me/ever since I was a lower-case G./But now I’m a big G/ the girls see I got the money” this one’s more like a jock gem.Ī truly great song that shows Freddy Mercury was fully equipped to rule the sports world, tight white denim pants and all.Īnother legitimately great song.
